Everything matters…

From our founding to today, I don’t think there is a more important time than right now.  We, as I have said before, are at the crossroads and this upcoming election will determine whether we become wards of the state or remain free men.  We currently have a government that wants to control every aspect of your life from the moment of conception to the moment of expiration.  They get to decide who is born and when you will die.

” The only thing required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.” -Thomas Paine

This nation was brought forth by men who believed in Liberty.  Eighty seven years later, they fought a war to preserve it.  We have defended it when it has mattered at places with names such as The Alamo, Midway, Ardennes, Sicily, New York, Washington DC, and over the fields of Pennsylvania.  It is now time for other Ordinary Americans to stand up and be counted for Freedom.

War on Religion – Incoming

5 July 2012

Here is the next shot in the War on Religion.  Seems a restaurant is under investigation by the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission because, get this, they offer a 10% discount to church goers.  Yep, you read that right.  The state has opened a discrimination investigation against Prudhomme’s Lost Cajun Kitchen.  This is all because a guy name John Wolff filed a complaint.  He is quoted as saying: “I did this not out of spite, but out of a feeling against the prevailing self-righteousness that stems from religion, particular in Lancaster County, I don’t consider it an earth-shaking affair, but in this area in particular, we seem to have so many self-righteous religious people, so it just annoys me.”  Yep, he filed a complaint because he was annoyed.

Mr. Wolff, you are a twit.  If you don’t like the fact that Prudhomme’s Lost Cajun Kitchen gives those that attend church a discount, you have two choices.  Attend the church of your choosing and claim the discount for yourself or find another place to patronize.  Mr. Wolff you have a mistaken idea that you have a right to not be annoyed.  Sir, please reference where in the Constitution of the United States as amended or even the Constitution of the State of Pennsylvania where you have a right not to be annoyed as I can’t seem to find it anywhere.

The owners, Sharon and David Prudhomme, advertise various discounts on their web page and they wonder if they could get in trouble for offering Kid’s Night on Tuesdays (Kids eat free, 12 and Under after 4:30).

Now, there is not much I can do to help these good folks, but if you happen to live in the area or even passing through, and believe a business should be able to operate in a manner of their choosing stop by and let them know.  If you go to church and decide to eat out afterwards, and you happen to live in Columbia, Pennsylvania, bring your church bulletin to Prudhomme’s Lost Cajun Kitchen and ask for your discount.  If I did, I would.

Oh, and friends, if you should happen to run into Mr. Wolff, let him know that while he is free to choose how he lives his life, he needs to tend to his affairs and allow the Prudhommes attend to the affairs of Prudhomme’s Lost Cajun Kitchen.  If they choose to offer him a discount because he is a cranky old curmudgeon, that is their choice.  If he chooses to eat somewhere else, I am sure the Prudhommes will not miss him much.

July 4, 1776

Once again, I have to ask “Has the time come?”  A bit more than 3 years ago, I asked that very question, and I still don’t know “the Answer.”  Go back and read the piece from 2009 and ask yourself the same question.

This is about where our nation is headed.  With the recent ruling on “Obamacare,” I now have to ask you this question.  If the government can require you to buy health insurance based upon some arbitrary standard (what they say you need versus what you actually need), what is to stop them from dictating/interfering in other areas of your private life?  In the market for a new car?  How about this one?  You can buy that one, but you will pay a “penalty” if you do.  Want to buy a new house?  Well, we have this one here that meets your needs.  Oh, you can buy that house over there, but you will pay a “penalty” if you do.  While these examples could be considered extreme, your “needs” will no longer be determined by you, but by some government employee and who knows how those “needs” will be determined.  Penalty or tax, it is still money you will pay to the government because you decide to exercise free will.  You know, that which was instilled in you by your Creator.  Has the time come?

Any regular reader of this little blog, knows in 1985 I took an oath.  That oath goes like this:

“I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

Read that oath carefully and notice to who or what I and every other service member swore allegiance to.  Not the officers appointed over me and not the President of the United States.  I and my brothers and sisters in arms swear allegiance to the Constitution of the United States.  Presidents come and go.  The Constitution has endured for 224 years despite the efforts of those opposed to it.  While it has been changed over the years, it still stands.

Even though I have not worn a uniform since 2005, I have not been relieved of that oath.  It does not have an expiration date attached.  Since I am no longer in uniform, I am no longer subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice and no longer required to obey the orders of the President of the United States nor are any officers appointed over me.

Do you have the courage of those 56 men from 1776?  Or would you rather be as the sheep led to the slaughter?  Freedom or subjugation, the choice is ours.  I am on my soapbox, will participate at the ballot box, but don’t forget, I have a bullet box which is my eternal hope will remain sealed.  Make your choice carefully as once made, it cannot be unmade.  You don’t get a do-over.
