Here come the gun grabbers

21 July 2012

First, take a moment to say a prayer for the survivors and the families of those effected by the events in Aurora, CO.  Pray also for the law enforcement and other working to gain entry to the suspects apartment.  Also, pray for the alleged shooter.  That he will remain safe to stand trial in accordance with our laws.

Now, here is what is happening and what is going to transpire over the next few days.  First, those that would abridge our 2nd Amendment rights to keep and bear arm are going to come out screaming about controlling the guns.  Let me say to them, that gun control is hitting what you are aiming at.  In places where guns are confiscated, there is no freedom.  When a despot want to take control, the first thing he does is get the private guns out of the hands of private citizens.  If you criminalize gun ownership, only criminals will have guns.

I was talking to a couple of co-workers yesterday and stated this theater probably had a sign that touted it was a “Safe Place” because gun were not permitted on the premises.  What actually happens in this case is if you want to do harm to lots of people, you look for that sign.  You will be unopposed, no one will shoot back.  This theater was a “Designated Victim Zone.”  And I will lay my next paycheck there was at least one CCW permit holder in attendance and he/she either left their weapon at home or in their car.  They voluntarily disarmed themselves at the request of another private citizen. The private person who requested them to disarm, now took on the responsibility to protect them.  Which, by the way, he failed to do.  He, in posting that sign, said “You don’t need your weapons here, I’ll see to your safety.”

Friends, if you are a visitor in my home or business, it is my DUTY to protect you.  Read that again.  As a visitor to my home or business, you have an expectation that nothing bad will happen while you are on my property and I have a DUTY to protect you.  One difference, I will NEVER ask you to disarm.  If asked, I will even provide the means to protect yourself while you are on my property.  I only ask you return my weapon when you are ready to depart so the next guest may utilize it if need be.

J.D. Kinman has a good post up about this.  Please go over there and see what he has to say.

Remember this.  When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

Get a weapon and learn to use it.  Take lessons and practice, practice, practice.
